Brookings South Dakota Half Marathon

This morning I'm packing up the tribe and we are heading west to Brookings South Dakota. I'll be running my second half-marathon, 13.1 miles of pure greatness. Well it could have been greatness but as life leads to life and then there's winter, I haven't been able to devote as much time to training for this race. I've gotten two 8 mile runs in as my long runs for this race so who knows what tomorrow holds. My goal time is 2 hours 30 minutes. Last fall I finished my first half-marathon, the Monster Dash in St. Paul, in a similar time of 2 hours and 34 minutes. With both of my long training runs coming in at sub 12 min per mile I think I've got a shot. If the wind stays calm and the sorority girls out in full force epic greatness is possible.

Here is the course map. This race winds through the small town of Brookings and the college campus. I took out the extended part the the full Marathon as I'm not that crazy, yet.

If we are friends on Facebook I'll post a Garmin Live track there so you can monitor my progress. Here's a link to my Garmin Connect page if you would like to check me out.

You never regret a workout, but you most definitely regret one you miss. This is the story of this race.

Cheers!!

Here is an update after the race. I did not perform as well as I had hoped but hey what can you do when you don't want to run in the winter. I think for the most part I did as well as could be expected. I continue to learn about things and myself so I'm headed in the right direction. You can check out my splits and info from my Garmin watch by clicking this link. As you can see by the below picture of my map they aren't kidding its back and forth and back and forth all across town.
